Newsletter #43 – Monday, 11th January 2021

Nettlestead, Priors Mead and HomeCare are at Implementation Level Three.

Covid-19 Outbreak

We regret to tell you that we are currently experiencing a Serious Outbreak of Covid-19 at Nettlestead with four Residents and Nine Members of Staff testing Positive since yesterday, all of whom currently have Mild Symptoms. The Residents who are Symptomatic are being cared for by dedicated Staff to try and control the outbreak, and we are currently working toward putting the Home in Full Lockdown.

HomeCare also currently has Nine Members of Staff off, four of whom are Testing Positive and are Symptomatic. We are having to adjust some Client’s Care Packages in order to be able to manage, but we will be in touch with any Families or Clients affected directly.

Priors Mead have one Member of Staff who is Asymptomatic but still Testing Positive. However, as a precaution, we are looking to place this Home in Full Lockdown too. We have received half of the results back for our Residents’ latest Coronavirus Tests, taken on Friday, all of which are so far Negative.

Thank You

We want to take this opportunity to thank Katherine, Lauren and Marianthi for immediately volunteering to look after our Covid-Positive Residents at Nettlestead, and to all the Staff who have since Volunteered for this and Lockdown. Your dedication is much appreciated and will not be forgotten.

Volunteers

In view of the large numbers of Staff who are now having to Self-Isolate and that not all Staff will be able to Lock-in for a week at a time, we may need to call on Volunteers to support us. If you or anyone you know may be able to help, could you please let us know. For their own sake, they should not be clinically vulnerable and should be aware that they may be placing themselves at heightened risk of contracting Covid themselves.

Vaccinations

All Residents at Nettlestead and Priors Mead have now had their first Coronavirus Vaccination. The majority of Staff are also in the process of being Vaccinated, and we are appealing to those who have reservations about the Vaccine to reconsider their decision.

Testing

Testing continues as before with both two Lateral Flow Tests and laboratory tests happening for Staff each week.

Pods and Visiting

In view of the Heightened Risk, both Pods are closed to Visitors at present.

Nettlestead, Priors Mead and HomeCare Updates

As we are focusing on managing the current situation today, these will resume next week.

Suggestions

Suggestions continue to be welcome. Please share them with us by emailing covid-19@nightingales.co.uk.

Thank you all for your continued support and understanding.
